Following the news that Chadwick Boseman has died at the age of 43, Marvel Studios, ABC Entertainment, and ABC News are honoring the incredible actor with a special evening of broadcasting.

On Sunday, August 30, Black Panther will make its debut on ABC, airing without commercials from 8 p.m. ET. The Marvel movie will be followed by an ABC News special dedicated to Black Panther's star. Chadwick Boseman—A Tribute for a King will honor and celebrate the actor's life and work, and examine the huge impact his performances had on the cultural landscape.

According to a press release, the special episode is set to include tributes from fans, celebrities, and political figures, and will "shine a light on the medical condition he privately battled." The episode also promises to include "special words from those who starred alongside him and knew Boseman best."

Boseman's family revealed that the actor was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016, and had continued to work and star in several movies post-diagnosis. Boseman appeared in several Marvel movies, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. In 2019, he starred in 21 Bridges, and appeared in 2020 movie Da 5 Bloods. He will next be seen alongside Viola Davis in the forthcoming Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
